Nokian studded tyres for extreme winter conditions. Excellent grip on hard pack snow and ice. Durable carbide pin studs guarantees excellent durability.

Steel bead with carbon silica tread and 22tpi gumwall casing.
For some time I've toyed with the idea of riding all winter. I've ridden in snowy conditions with conventional tires and based on that experience it's not an option for me (though it might have been in my younger days). I bought a pair of these babies and they are like miracle tires. They really have great traction on ice and plow through loose snow very well. They work exactly as advertised and I've been surprised the kinds of snow and slush I've been able to plow through. I have now ridden through a Minnesota December and am looking forward to January. These babies are the ticket for snowy winter riding.

7 mile commute, mostly on the Greenway. Winter 07-08 I used just one studded tire, on the rear. Intended to use it on the front but an untimely flat (when are they ever timely?) and my desire to minimize the amount of time working on grimy winter wheels lead to installing it on the rear only. Made a huge difference, but still had those heart-stopping moments approaching ice patches and being bounced and skittered around. Not so last year. Adding the front tire (almost) eliminated all my fears. Yes, they're heavy and slow but the confidence you gain makes all the difference in the world. And since cold and snow spell slow riding anyway, whats a little more compared to the gain? [$] for two tires and another [$] for decent lights, goggles, etc may seem like a lot, but they'll last for years, and provide a surprisingly enjoyable challenge to help get thru the dark and dreary months

Commuted on a set of these for the last couple years now, and had zero problems. Only reason I won't be using them this year is I'm going to a set of the Hakkapellita's on a 700c rim.
EXCELLENT choice for winter riding.

I bought these yesterday and put them on last night. My commute is about 9 miles in the cities. The tires make riding on snow and ice easy and slip free. They are a little slow on pavement but that's to be expected. They have expanded my commute to include our winter weather and lowered the risk of slipping and crashing. It is great to be able to ride through the winter and in the snow!
