Training and Certification

Freewheel Bike's repair department sets itself apart from other shops with the amount of training our Technicians have completed.  In the United States bicycle mechanic training is primarily handled by two schools; United Bicycle Institute and Barnett Bicycle Institute.   All of our lead mechanics have completed courses in advanced bicycle assembly and repair with many returning for continuing education in wheel building, suspension tuning and overhaul, and frame building.  Between our education and experience you can be assured that your bike is in the best hands available.

Kevin Ishaug

Kevin Ishaug has been trained using the Fit Kit System's Grand Master Fit Kit as well as the Waterford Fitmaster.  The Grand Master Fit Kit is used for bicycle fitting, fine tuning weight distribution and finite cleat adjustment.  The Waterford Fitmaster is used to accurately replicate the custom angles, tubing lengths and fit of your new bicycle frame.

Jim D. Lux

Jim Lux has been a Professional Mechanic for the better part of 3 decades.  In 1995 he attended Barnetts Bicycle Institute and received his National Bicycle Mechanic Certification.  He has also received wheel rebuilding training on Rolf and Bontrager paired spoke wheels.

Joshua Klauck

Josh also has been trained and certified levels 1-3 by Fit Kit Systems and has done hundreds of successful fittings.
