Route: Varies

Requirements:  A bike of any kind, bike lights and your TGIF selves.

The ride is based on two ideas:

1) Riding bikes is fun, riding bikes with a group of awesome people is even better. Duh.

2) The Greenway is a safer place when you have strength in numbers. So as we ride, swap tall tales and have a laugh, we'll also act as a trail watch. Power in numbers ups safety and fun factors for everyone on the Greenway, so grab a friend and come light up your Friday night with us!

Ride Name: Monday Recovery Ride

Requirements:  Riders are required to wear a helmet, we ask that you have your bike in good mechanical condition and to obey the laws of the road and the laws of gravity.

Every good thing must come to an end, including the weekends!  Whether you overindulged or you left it all out there on the ride the weekend, the Monday Recovery ride is just the thing to get you ready for the week ahead!!  The 15 mile route is a fun, safe ride nearly entirely on bike paths that will take you past Minneapolis landmarks like the Stone Arch Bridge, Target Field, the scenic Kennelworth trail, Midtown Greenway and W. River Parkway.  This leisurely paced sojourn will have a ride leader and sweeper from Freewheel Bike that will help you  enjoy the ride and keep you rolling should you encounter any mechanical issues.  The longer route will cover 30-35 miles of scenic bike paths and parkways in and around our capital city of St. Paul.  This route will go through the Como neighborhood, around Lake Phalen, past Indian Mounds Park, around CHS field after which you will be treated to a section of path along the Mississippi River that is one of the nicest trails in the city.  The longer route will take about 2 hours and have a ride leader and sweeper from Freewheel Bike to help keep things moving smoothly safely.

When: Sundays. Meet at 10:00am for a quick discussion about road riding etiquette and techniques then we'll go practice them together.

Distance: About 10 -15 Miles

Pace: Casual

Requirements:  A road bike and signed liability waiver

Cycling is an inherently dangerous sport: Freewheel Bike and its representatives are not responsible in any way for any perceived or actual injury before, during, or after group rides.  Please take personal responsibility for your own safety. Helmets are required for all rides. We will ride together in a warm up pace for first 5 miles of all rides.  Obey all traffic laws including stop signs and traffic lights. We wait for all riders caught at stop signs or traffic lights and those who have mechanicals or flats.  Never say "Clear!" Each person must determine if the road or traffic crossing is clear for them.  It is courteous to point out obstacles such as cars, potholes or debris.  Drafting is encouraged but be careful.  Do not overlap the wheel in front of you.  DO NOT 'HALF-WHEEL' IF YOU ARE RIDING SIDE BY SIDE ON THE FRONT!  Keep a hand on your rear brake at all times. Watch out ahead of you. Avoid sudden moves left and right and sudden braking or acceleration. NEVER INTERACT WITH OR CONFRONT MOTORISTS. No rider will be intentionally left behind.  Ride leaders reserve the right to dismiss or reject riders that display unsafe or dangerous behavior, demonstrate poor bicycle handling skills, or are utilizing faulty/unsafe equipment.
